Mt. Rose Highway closed due to winter conditions

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Nevada State Police is reporting that Mt. Rose Highway remains closed after being shut down around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25, 2025. The closure is in both directions from Fairview Blvd. to Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe (from Incline Village to the ski resort), and is reportedly due to lanes being blocked by snow on the road. Drivers are advised to find an alternate route.

The highway is open from Reno up to the ski resort.

Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is also reporting that chains are required for all vehicles, except for those with 4-wheel drive or snow tires, from Incline Lake Recreation Area to Mt. Rose, Diamond Peak to Incline Lake Recreation Area, and Fairview Blvd. to Diamond Peak…
