Land Ocean Restaurant—with locations in California and Idaho, in addition to its first local location at Shayden Summit mall in South Reno—is getting ready to open a fifth branch at 137 Los Altos Parkway, in Sparks, in the former Mr. Crab Seafood Boils. “We like to say we’re upscale casual,” said owner Karoline Platt. “We’re a modern take on a steak and seafood house.” And the atmosphere? “You can go in dressed for date night, or you can dress down and still feel comfortable,” Platt said. “Our bars are typically very lively.” The menu is the same at all five locations, with appetizers like oysters on the half shell and tenderloin Wellingtons. Entrees include steaks, burgers, seafood and a $36 surf-and-turf with an 8-ounce teriyaki Wagyu top sirloin, tempura prawns, coconut sauce and mashed potatoes. Platt said the current goal is to open in mid-March, but cautioned that, of course, restaurant openings are always subject to change. Visit landoceanrestaurants.com/sparks.
