Bear the cat undergoes successful liver surgery at UC Davis

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Bear, the 1-year-old cat rescued from a 50-foot tree near McQueen High School, underwent successful liver shunt surgery Monday at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

The surgery “went very well,” according to veterinarians at the facility. Bear will remain in the intensive care unit for at least three days, which is standard recovery protocol for the procedure.

The community fundraising campaign launched by Options Veterinary Care exceeded its $10,000 goal, raising $12,597.38 for the life-saving surgery. The additional funds will help other pets facing similar emergencies at the nonprofit clinic…
