Sparks council OKs first sewer fee hike since 2018 for system reliability

The Sparks City Council has unanimously approved an ordinance that raises sewer user fees, marking the first increase since 2018.

Under the plan, sewer rates will go up by 6% in 2026. After that, residents will see more gradual increases of 5% each year from 2027 through 2030, followed by a final 4% increase in 2031.

For the average residential customer, that means the sewer portion of a monthly utility bill will rise by about $1.60 in 2026, bringing the total monthly sewer-related cost to roughly $43.58. Storm drain and flood control rates will remain unchanged…
