Sentencing set for March after Reno man’s reckless driving conviction in fiery crash

A Reno man accused in a fiery, wrong-way crash on Plumb Lane that left three people seriously injured has been found not guilty of DUI, but convicted on two counts of reckless driving following a jury trial.

Victor Ledezma Caballero stood trial for a head-on collision that happened in December 2023 near Hunter Lake Drive. After about 10 hours of deliberations spread over two days, the jury returned its verdict, acquitting Ledezma Caballero of driving under the influence but finding him guilty of reckless driving.

Investigators previously alleged Ledezma Caballero crossed into oncoming traffic, triggering a crash that sparked a fire and sent three people to the hospital. Two of those injured — Ledezma Caballero’s passenger and another motorist — suffered life-altering injuries. His passenger was severely burned and later had her arm amputated…
