Bomb threat at Virginia City High School prompts closure, no explosives found

STOREY COUNTY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Storey County schools were placed on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday and Virginia City High School has been canceled because of a threat to the high school.

Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported bomb threat at the Virginia City High School around 6 a.m. on Jan. 21. The threat was communicated via email to school officials. No students were present in the school at the time.

The high school was cleared and a perimeter was established. Bomb detection K9s and their handlers from neighboring agencies were sent to the location and a sweep for explosives was conducted. Authorities say no threats were detected…
