Grand theft auto, drug charges follow Carson City crash

A 39-year-old Reno man was arrested early Jan. 24 on suspicion of three felonies and two misdemeanors, including grand theft auto, after Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on I-580 near the southbound East William Street offramp, according to an arrest report.

Besides grand theft auto, Brett Davenport was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of controlled substance, both felonies, and driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia — misdemeanors.

Officers located a silver Chrysler that crashed into the westside freeway divider wall around midnight Jan. 24. Witnesses said a man walked around the vehicle, “attempting to get debris out of the street,” and then walked southbound leaving the crash, the arrest report said…
