UNR acquires land from troubled student housing apartment project

The land for a troubled student housing project was acquired by the University of Nevada, Reno.

RIC Reno LLC sold the site of a previously planned student apartment project at 434 Highland Ave. to UNR, according to public records from Washoe County. The parcel, located near the university, was acquired by the Nevada System of Higher Education on behalf of UNR on Jan. 13.

Located in the University Heights subdivision, the 3.68-acre property was originally slated for a 268-unit student apartment project by previous owner Latigo LLC. Rendered images for the project showed a 316,682-square-foot high-rise apartment complex. Latigo acquired the property in February 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic began in the United States…
