RENO, Nev. – Collegiate skiing returned to Northern Nevada for the first time since 2011 as Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe hosted the first of four days of action Saturday. Nevada showed it could run on home turf as Erica Lynch finished fifth in the women’s slalom and Peyton Wells came in 10th on the men’s side.
Saturday featured the RMISA Alpine qualifier in the slalom. Lynch was seventh to pace the Nevada women after the first run, then posted the third-fastest second run of the field to climb two spots and claim yet another top-five finish this season with a combined time of 1:38.18.
Charlotte Clément and Zali Sutton also finished in the top 15 on the women’s side. Clément was just a hundredth of a second behind Lynch on the second run, the fourth-fastest time in the field that run moving her up seven spots for a 12th-place finish at 1:41.06. Sutton had the seventh-fastest second run, and took 14th with a combined time of 1:41.56…
