An upcoming I-80 widening project will lead to increased activity and lane closures.
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) awarded Granite Construction a preconstruction services agreement in preparation for the future I-80 East Widening Project between Vista Boulevard and USA Parkway. The preconstruction agreement marks another important step toward the much-anticipated project to improve safety along a corridor that sees higher crash rates than other similar interstates across Nevada.
The project will add one lane in each direction and widen shoulders to help ease congestion for those traveling between Reno, Sparks, and the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC). The proposed widening and improvements are projected to cut total crash rates by 20% once completed…
