Reno man arrested after pistol-whipping, gunfire scare triggers school lockdowns

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A Reno man is in custody following a battery with a deadly weapon investigation Thursday morning that prompted school lockdowns and a large police presence across the area.

According to Reno Police, officers responded around 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 26 to the area of 6th Street and Sage Street on reports of a battery with a deadly weapon. Police say a victim was pistol-whipped during the incident.

Another caller reported the suspect — identified as 45-year-old Eddie Luna — was running through the area with two guns. Luna allegedly threatened multiple bystanders and discharged the firearms into the air before fleeing…
