The Reno Arch may be one of the city’s most photographed landmarks, but keeping it shining bright takes steady work — and steady funding.
During a recent presentation, Reno City Council members heard about the ongoing maintenance efforts required to keep the iconic arch operational and looking its best. On average, the City spends about $20,000 a year on upkeep, funded through the General Fund.
Because the arch is constantly exposed to Northern Nevada weather and heavy use during special events, maintenance is routine and hands-on. City staff, along with Young Electric Sign Company, handle regular inspections, bulb replacements, electrical troubleshooting, cleaning, neon repairs and limited structural work…
