Inside Nevada track’s record-breaking performance to finish second at the MW Championships

Before last week’s Mountain West track and field championships began, Nevada coach Shantel Twiggs admitted New Mexico was basically unbeatable but said her Wolf Pack had a shot to best any other team in the field.

“We have a legitimate shot,” Twiggs said. “I’m not going to lie. As far as the win is concerned, New Mexico might have that locked up because they’re just so deep as far their distances are concerned. But my athletes have been rallying with the record-breaking performances they’ve been putting together.”

The Wolf Pack backed up Twiggs’ proclamation by finishing second in the conference, its best mark in an indoor or outdoor league meet since joining the MW in 2012.
