RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Gov. Joe Lombardo visited Alice Smith Elementary School in Reno on Wednesday morning, reading aloud to students and engaging them in conversation as part of Nevada Reading Week, the state’s annual celebration of literacy now in its fourth decade.
Lombardo read Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae to two third-grade classrooms, pausing throughout to ask questions, explain vocabulary, and invite a student to read alongside him — giving her direct practice and reinforcing her progress.
