Smoke possible from Sunday pile burns near Silver Lake station

A routine fire prevention project could bring visible smoke to parts of the north valleys this weekend.

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District plans to conduct pile burn operations Sunday, March 8, weather permitting, at the Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Station at 11525 Red Rock Road. Crews plan to ignite about 40 piles as part of the work.

Officials said smoke might affect the Red Rock area during the operation. Drivers on Red Rock Road are asked to use caution because visibility could be limited at times…
