A new race built for speed is heading to Reno this spring.
The inaugural REVEL Reno Tahoe Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K will take place May 17, giving runners a rare shot at chasing personal records — and possibly a Boston Marathon qualifying time — on a fast, downhill course through the Sierra Nevada.
The marathon begins near the summit of Mt. Rose Highway at 8,911 feet and drops more than 3,400 feet before finishing at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Along the way, runners will descend through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest before transitioning into Reno neighborhoods and crossing the finish line in the heart of the city…
