A food manufacturing company in Nevada is preparing to lay off more than 200 employees from a food manufacturing facility in Reno, according to a state labor notice. The layoffs are expected to take effect at the end of April.
Layoffs planned at Reno facility
SK Food Group has notified state officials that it plans to lay off more than 200 workers at its facility on Quail Manor Court in Reno. The company submitted a WARN notice to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation on February 27 outlining the workforce reduction.
Employees affected by the layoffs will continue receiving wages and benefits during a 60-day notice period before their separation. The layoffs are expected to take effect on April 30.
Despite the job cuts, the Reno facility itself is not expected to close and will remain operational after the workforce reduction takes place.
Who is impacted
More than 140 of the workers impacted by the layoffs are production line employees, though a variety of other positions will also be eliminated. According to the notice, affected roles range from production and warehouse positions to supervisory and food safety jobs…
