RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -The Reno Police Department is leading an investigation into an Officer-Involved-shooting that occurred near North McCarran Blvd and East Prater Way on Thursday. The suspect, who has not been named yet, was shot and killed by Sparks Police in the parking lot. Two officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Reno Police Public Information Officer Hunter Mercurio explains how the Regional Officer-Involved-Shooting protocol works in our area. “The Officer Involved shooting protocol is an agreement between the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, and the Reno Police Department. Basically, anytime there is an officer-involved-shooting that occurs by one agency, another agency steps in to take over that investigation.”
