Castle Peak Avalanche victims buried 5-8 feet in small area near runout edge

TRUCKEE, Calif. – New details have emerged regarding the deadly Castle Peak avalanche that took place on Feb. 17., killing nine people and injuring two.

According to the Sierra Avalanche Center’s (SAC) recent update, the victims were buried approximately 5-8 feet below the surface.

All victims were found in a small area sized approximately 20 by 20 feet near the toe of the avalanche debris…
