Truckee amends sidewalk vending ordinance following county concerns

TRUCKEE, Calif. – On Tuesday, the Town of Truckee amended its sidewalk vending ordinance following concerns raised by Nevada County Environmental Health.

The Town Council originally adopted the ordinance in September of last year to regulate sidewalk vending, including the creation of a permitting process. At the time, former mayor Jan Zabriskie warned that the policy was overly restrictive and ambiguous, potentially threatening small businesses.

After its adoption, Environmental Health officials contacted Town staff regarding several provisions related to food preparation.
