Reno police use drone unit to respond to report of intruders at a Reno home, man arrested

Reno police used a drone as a first responder to track down burglary suspects after a homeowner in California reported seeing unknown people inside her Reno residence on a surveillance system.

Officers responded to the 11000 block of Andes Street on Sunday morning for a report of unwanted subjects inside a home. The reporting party, the owner of the residence, was in California at the time and said she saw unknown adult male and female suspects enter the home on her surveillance system.

A Reno police officer assigned to the Real Time Crime Center as a pilot in the Drone First Responder Unit responded to the call. Within seconds, the pilot located the suspects and a vehicle still on scene. After the suspects saw the drone, they left the area in the vehicle…
