RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Less than a week after Reno proclaimed May Wait Until 8th Month, Caughlin Ranch Elementary School has become the first school in the state with an active Wait Until 8th pledge in every grade from kindergarten to fifth grade, according to a news release from Wait Until 8th Reno-Sparks.
As of Tuesday, May 5, the parents of 126 kids at Caughlin Ranch Elementary School have committed to wait until at least the end of 8th grade to give their children smartphones, which does not include basic phones and smartwatches with limited features, the release said.
Twenty-three kindergarten families signed the pledge, in addition to 23 first grade families, 20 second grade families, 24 third grade families, 13 fourth grade families, and 23 fifth grade families…
