RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Several neighborhoods in and around Richmond have emerged as crime hotspots for gun violence, shoplifting and firearms theft from motor vehicles, according to a new Richmond Police Department report.
Richmond Police listed 13 gun violence hotspots in the city as well as neighborhoods with the highest concentration of other crimes at its mid-year crime briefing on Thursday.
Authorities said non-fatal shootings saw a 26% decrease across the city with 64 incidents, down from 85 this time last year. The city also recorded a 10-year average of 99 non-fatal shootings, the lowest it’s seen since 2009, police said.
Officials released 13 gun violence hotspots in and around the city, with their block addresses as follows:

- 2100 Ford Ave.
- 1900 Mechanicsville Turnpike
- 2200 Deforrest St.
- 2200 N. 23rd St.
- 1200 Admiral Gravely Blvd.
- 4000 Midlothian Turnpike
- 1600 Harwood St.
- 3400 Hull St.
- 1500 Treehaven Drive
- 6600 Midlothian Turnpike
- 1100 St. Paul St.
- 4900 Chamberlayne Ave.
Richmond Police said there have been 204 firearms stolen from vehicles this year, with 21 incidents taking place in The Fan. Richmond City Center and Shockoe Slip both recorded 16 stolen firearms, Shockoe Bottom recorded 13 and Monroe Ward recorded 10.
General theft from motor vehicles dropped 7% from 1,106 to 1,028, and theft of motor vehicle parts decreased 8% from 133 to 122, Richmond Police noted…
