Repairs continue on broken Richmond water main

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Crews from the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) are making progress on repairs after a 36-inch water main in the Kanawha Canal broke on July 3.

DPU announced Friday that crews completed excavation of the damaged section of the water main and are now working to remove and prepare to replace the damaged pipe.

Officials said that the new section of pipe will be installed in the next several days. The water main will then be pressure tested and disinfected before it returns to service…
