Richmond’s water main to return to service after broken pipe caused water pressure issues

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond is in the final stretch of repairing a 36-inch water main that broke earlier this month and left some residents with low water pressure.

City leaders said Friday that crews are in the final phase of repairs, with the water main slated to return to service next week pending successful testing. This comes after a 50-year-old pipe caused a water main break in the city overnight on July 3.

According to city officials, crews have installed the new section of the water main. The remaining work of the project includes pressure testing, disinfection and water quality sampling to ensure it meets all regulatory requirements…
