HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — For the fourth year in a row, the Hopewell Police Department has earned the No-Kill Excellence Award for its lifesaving efforts for furry friends.
On Monday, July 20, the city announced that its police department has received the No-Kill Excellence Award from the Best Friends Animal Society for the fourth year in a row.
The award recognizes shelters that have maintained a 90% or higher save rate for dogs and cats. Hopewell was praised in a letter from Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, for its “leadership, dedication, community engagement, and commitment” to working toward a no-kill nation…
