Festival of India brought community together with tradition, food and more

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The 43rd annual Festival of India brought community members across Central Virginia together for a weekend celebrating tradition, connections and more in Richmond.

On Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Festival of India featured music, dance, food and culture for families of all ages at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, located at 403 North Third Street.

The free event allowed attendees to celebrate and experience India’s diverse culture, as well as traditions that included authentic cuisine, arts, crafts and entertainment.

“It’s like a family, bigger family coming together and just remembering, and it passes on to the next generations,” said Suchasmitha Yarlagadda. “Like our kids are very excited when Festival of India comes.”…
