Three Central Virginia projects receive $500,000 to build, repair trails

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Three Central Virginia projects will receive $500,000 under a matching reimbursement program to rehabilitate recreational trails and facilities.

According to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), seven trail projects across the commonwealth have been awarded grants through the Recreational Trails Program. The initiative funds localities to build and repair trails and trail-related facilities.

Details on selected Central Virginia projects and recipients are as follows:

  • Albemarle County to receive $210,698.22 for Old Mills Trail Extension Phase I: Lego Farm
  • City of Petersburg to receive $76,917 for Wilcox Lake Historical Trails Restoration
  • City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities to receive $210,698.22 for Crooked Branch Ravine Bridge Phase 2

Other recipients are located in Isle of Wight, Northampton, Rockbridge and Shenandoah counties…
