Richmond man sentenced after live streaming himself with machine gun

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man has been sentenced to prison after the Richmond Police Department saw him livestreaming himself with a machine gun.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, Dai’Quan Jarrvel Lane, 23, was sentenced to prison after Richmond Police detectives saw him displaying a machine gun during a social media livestream on Feb. 1, 2023.

According to the Department of Justice, detectives knew Lane was a convicted felon and believed him to be livestreaming in the Whitcomb Court area. Officers had responded to the area shortly after the livestream ended and located Lane outside.

According to officials, Lane fled from police after they had tried to stop him, tossing the firearm as he ran. After the chase was over, Lane said he had been on his way to sell the firearm for $750 when officers had arrived.

The firearm was privately made and had a machine gun conversion device attached to its back, according to officials. The gun was loaded at the time of its seizure and had a 30-round extended magazine.
