RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – What’s in a name? Richmond leaders are expected to unveil the riverfront amphitheater’s official name when they break ground on the project on Tuesday morning.
Up until this point, the venue had only been referred to as the “Richmond riverfront amphitheater,” or “Richmond amphitheater.” However, following Tuesday’s announcement, the location will have a permanent name.

The $30 million amphitheater will be located along South 2nd Street between Tredegar Street and a portion of Kanawha Canal.
City planners say the proposed site would accommodate up to 7,500 people with the possibility of expanding to fit over 10,000 people for big shows and events.
According to the developer , the hillside location makes is well-suited to concerts and other entertainment with the potential for 25 to 35 large-scale events each year.
The amphitheater is being funded by Red Light Ventures, the company’s founder and CEO Coran Capshaw will also be at Tuesday morning’s event.
