Virginia teacher under fire for pro-Palestine ‘diatribe’ in class: ‘Emotional extortion’

HENRICO, Va. (CITC) – A Virginia high school teacher is being accused of breaking district policy by forcing students to listen to a pro-Palestine “diatribe” during class. The 12-minute-long rant by Catherine Massalha, a teacher at Deep Run High School, was recorded by a freshman student on Dec. 6. Massalha told students she had a “responsibility” to discuss the current conflict in Gaza, citing Henrico County Public Schools’ (HCPS) duty of “culturally responsive education,” according to the audio obtained by the Defense of Freedom Institute (DFI) and shared with Crisis in the Classroom (CITC.)
