Attempted bank robbery in Colonial Heights, suspect still at large

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — The Colonial Heights Police Department is currently at the scene of an attempted bank robbery , advising that the suspect is still at large.

At 11:18 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, police responded to the Touchstone Bank in Colonial Heights, located at 3115 Boulevard, after receiving report of a robbery.

According to police, a Black male wearing all black clothing, a black hat and a black face mask entered the bank and gave a note to one of the tellers. This note informed the teller that he had a firearm on his person.

The suspect was not able to obtain any money, fleeing the bank on foot after employees activated an emergency alarm.

According to police, the suspect was last seen heading on foot towards the nearby Publix Supermarket. However, it is advised that he may be traveling by bicycle.

Some witnesses reported seeing paint and dirt on his clothing.
