An accidental meeting with a candidate for the next Mayor of Richmond, Virginia

I enjoy having early morning doctors’ appointments. On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, my early appointment was at 8 a.m. at the Virginia Eye Institute at 400 Westhampton Station in Richmond, Virginia 23226.

I have been a patient there for more than ten years and have never seen a familiar face in the waiting room. However, that changed during my visit on Tuesday.

As I was sitting in the waiting room with my adult son, a woman came over and asked us if we lived in Richmond. When I said we were Richmond residents, she handed me a brochure.

The woman said:

“My daughter is running for the Mayor of Richmond position. Here is information about her.”

At first, I did not recognize her daughter who was there with her mother. When I saw the photo and the name on the brochure, I said, “Oh, your daughter is Michelle Mosby. I know her.”

When my son found out Mosby is a candidate for Richmond’s next mayor, he began asking her questions. The candidate answered his questions as if she were being interviewed. They were still talking when I was called into the doctor’s office and still talking when I returned to the waiting room minutes later.
