WASHINGTON, DC — Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C. apprehended a Salvadoran fugitive wanted in his native country for charges including kidnapping, aggravated homicide, and femicide. The arrest occurred during a targeted operation in Hopewell, Virginia, conducted by deportation officers from ERO Washington, D.C.’s Richmond field office on June 17.

“This Salvadoran national is wanted by authorities in his home country for some terrible crimes,” said ERO Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Liana Castano. “This individual posed a very serious threat to the residents of Virginia until our officers arrested him. ERO Washington, D.C. will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending the most egregious noncitizen offenders.”

The 25-year-old Salvadoran noncitizen was first apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on February 3, 2016, after illegally entering near Calexico, California, as an unaccompanied minor. He was subsequently processed and served with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. Following processing, he was released to the Office of Refugee and Resettlement and later to his father’s custody under recognizance.
