Major League Fishing tournament held in Richmond reels in large crowd

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Major League Fishing 2024 Bass Pro Tour Stage Six reeled in a large crowd to Richmond as fans watched their favorite anglers catch the biggest fish swimming in the area.

On Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, a watch party was held for the Major League Fishing 2024 Bass Pro Tour Stage Six tournament at Osborne Landing in Richmond.

Bruce Callis said it was his first time attending a Major League Fishing tournament and his favorite part was seeing the fans’ excitement as they watched the participating anglers in the event.

“I had to come out and see all these great anglers, and say hello to fans,” Callis said. “I spent a lot of time just talking to the kids and other fans up here just having a great time.”

Callis said this tournament was different compared to others as trailering was in effect, which is when anglers are able to launch their boats from any site and trailer their fish to boat officials for weigh-in.

According to Major League Fishing , angler Skeet Reese took home the Bass Pro Tour trophy after scoring 23 fish that weighed a total of 54 pounds and three ounces.
