Pocahontas State Park to host sunset kayaking event on Swift Creek Lake

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond area residents and visitors can kayak through the sunset on Swift Creek Lake in Pocahontas State Park Wednesday evening.

Rangers will lead the event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3.

Attendees will get a quick overview of kayaking safety and techniques, and learn about the natural and cultural significance of the area.

All equipment will be provided, and anyone ages 6 and older can attend.

According to the Department of Conservation and Recreation, boats are limited and attendees must register in advance at the park office or by calling 804-796-4255.

A $10 participant fee must be paid upon registration with the park office.

Attendees are recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen and wear close-toed shoes that may get dirty or wet. Guests are also asked to arrive 15 minutes early.

The event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
