According to WRIC 8 News, Kings Dominion announced that the world’s tallest and longest-launched wing coaster will be available for riders next year.
About the coaster
Here are some things we are told about the world’s tallest and longer coster:
- It will be a 3,086-foot-long coaster called Rapterra.
- It will take riders from zero to 65 miles per hour in just four seconds.
- It will reach a height of 145 feet and tout an S-turn, wing slide, and airtime hill.
- Rapterra will have an initial launch, plunging dives, twisting maneuvers, and sweeping turns.
- Rapterra will be at the site of the former Volcano roller coaster that was taken down at Kings Dominion in 2019.
- The project has been in the works for two years.
- Construction is expected to be completed this fall.
- Rapterra is expected to open in 2025 as part of the Kings Dominion’s 50th anniversary.
Ken Parks, the director of creative development for Six Flags, told 8News:
“It has one of the largest flyovers. It will go into an Immelmann loop, and then it goes into a kind of a twist as well. It’s really a great sensation with your feet dangling, and you’re kind of very free on this one.”
