RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 16-year-old boy is in the hospital after police say he was shot during an “altercation” on a Greater Richmond Transport Authority (GRTC) bus in Richmond on Thursday.
According to an alert from the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Police Department, the shooting took place on a GRTC bus in the 1100 block of East Leigh Street the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 1.
Police said a 16-year-old boy was shot during a “physical altercation” on the bus. According to the Richmond Police Department, officers responded at around 5:19 p.m. and the teenager, who is reportedly not affiliated with VCU, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The suspect in this shooting is described as a male with short black hair. His age was not shared. According to police, at the time of the altercation, he was wearing a Black Nike hoodie, a black beanie and black pants, as well as carrying a shoulder bag.
