Tentative date set to hear Murdaugh’s sentencing appeal

A tentative date is set for Alex Murdaugh’s appeal on his federal prison sentence on financial crime charges. Murdaugh pleaded guilty to more than 20 federal financial crimes back in April and was sentenced to 40 years.

The U.S. Court Of Appeals has put Murdaugh’s appeal argument on the docket for October 29th through November 1st in Richmond, Virginia. Murdaugh’s attorneys argue that his 40 year sentence violates his 8th Amendment Rights.

Murdaugh is already serving two life sentences after being convicted of killing his wife and son. Along with the sentence for the financial crimes, Murdaugh was ordered to pay nearly 9 million dollars in restitution to his victims.
