804 Youth Day held at Boushall Middle School

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The back to school event 804 Youth Day was held at Thomas C. Boushall Middle School on Sunday.

Thomas C. Boushall Middle School held an 804 Youth Day event on Sunday, Aug. 4 where kids received free haircuts and free school supplies provided by local organizations. People who attended the event also had the opportunity to participate in a community basketball game.

Several organizations came together to make the event possible — including GenSalve (sponsored by the Mt. Gilead church), the record label Charged Up Entertainment and Chase Bank, who provided the backpacks used for the school supplies giveaway.

Daniel Robertson, who runs the youth organization GenSalve, spoke with 8News about what it means to be involved with events like 804 Youth Day.

“We [GenSalve] are a church organization, we are a youth organization — a youth ministry if you will — and so being able to just partner with people who are on the ground in the community is a big deal within itself,” Robertson said.
