Three Virginia athletes win gold with USA Swimming Olympic Team at 2024 Paris Olympics

PARIS, FRANCE (WRIC) — Three USA Swimming Olympic Team athletes with ties to Virginia have won gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the team setting a world record on Saturday.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, 26-year-old Charlie Swanson , of Richmond, 21-year-old Torri Huske , of Fairfax, and 21-year-old University of Virginia swimmer Gretchen Walsh won gold medals with the USA Swimming Olympic Team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

USA Swimming Olympic Team members Ryan Murphy, Nic Fink, Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske swam in the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay and finished in first place, earning the team gold medals.

The team also broke the event’s world record on Saturday with a finishing time of 3:37.43.

Previously, Walsh set an Olympic record in Paris for the Women’s 100-meter Butterfly with a time of 55.38 seconds. She also set a world record for the same event at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials with a time of 55.18 seconds.
