RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The 33rd Down Home Family Reunion took place on Saturday, allowing visitors to celebrate several parts of African American folklife and heritage.

The family festival featured music, food and vendors from all around the African world on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Jackson Ward.

Diana Gaston, the owner of Bahashem Soap Company, had nothing but positive things to say as she spoke to 8News about the impact of this event on the community.

“The music is phenomenal every year, the event is amazing, it’s a good vibe, good vendors, food,” Gaston said. “It’s a nice time to relax with your family, bring the children out and have a good time.”
