Community meeting for input on memorializing the Shockoe Hill African Burial Ground

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) –The Shockoe Project is inviting the community to an important engagement session focused on gathering the public’s opinion for the memorialization of the Shockoe Hill African Burial Ground .

The session will take place on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Black History Museum Meeting Room, located at 122 W. Leigh St. in Richmond. Refreshments will be provided.

“This meeting is a chance for community members to bring their ideas, learn about ongoing efforts, and contribute to shaping the future of this historic site. The public’s involvement can ensure that the stories of those buried at Shockoe Hill are not forgotten,” said Burt Pinnock, project architect at Baskervill .
