Richmond’s ‘Gospel Cop’ to take the stage at 2nd Street Festival in October

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond “Gospel Cop” will take the stage in Jackson Ward this October for the 2nd Street Festival.

According to organizers, Richmond’s singing cop Mervin Mayo will perform at the 2nd Street Festival this year. He’s scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 — the second day of the two-day festival , which begins on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Mayo, an officer with the Richmond Police Department, recently went on America’s Got Talent and received four yes votes.

“We are so proud of his success and can’t wait for Mervin to take the Main Stage,” organizers said.
