Red Lobster is closing another 23 restaurants within days, and three of them are in Virginia

On Monday, August 26, CNN reported that Red Lobster locations are scheduled to close within the coming days as part of its ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.

A recent court filing shows that the company is rejecting the leases of 23 locations by Saturday, August 31. That means the 23 restaurants will join over 100 Red Lobster restaurants closed earlier this summer. The chain will then have only about 500 outlets left. That’s a big decrease from the 650 it had last year.

Also on Monday, Fortress announced it would install the former chief executive of P.F. Chang’s, Damola Adamolekun, as Red Lobster’s new CEO once the chain exits bankruptcy proceedings. Adamolekun left the Chinese food restaurant chain in August 2023 after being there for four years.
