CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS rescued a kitten from a storm drain Thursday night.
Just before 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, Chesterfield firefighters responded to the call for a cat that was possibly trapped in a storm drain near the intersection of Woods Edge Road and Indian Hill Road.
Officials say the caller heard the cat’s meows and called for help.
Firefighters, along with a Chesterfield County Animal Services officer, found a kitten down a pipe attached to a storm drain.
Responders were able to lure the kitten down the pipe to a manhole opening and then used a pole to pull the kitten up 6 feet to safety.
The kitten was then taken to a veterinarian for follow-up care, according to officials.
