The first ever Granite Festival is this Saturday, September 14 from noon-7PM on the grounds of Huguenot High School. Granite had its own stores, churches, clubs, gatherings, a post office and a train stop. A section of Forest Hill Road was formerly known as Granite Road. As families relocated to other areas of Richmond, the Powhite was constructed, and new commercial structures were erected, altering the landscape. Despite these transformations, the memory of Granite continues to endure in the hearts of all descendants of this historic place.
