Richmond’s North-South Pulse project community meetings underway

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) is advancing its North-South Pulse project , which aims to extend bus service to better connect Richmond’s Northside and Southside. This new route will integrate with the existing East-West Pulse on Broad Street, enhancing connectivity throughout the city.

GRTC leaders say a new route is necessary because its current ridership has surpassed the existing bus service. A new line will connect more people to jobs and opportunities in the region, as well as increase reliability and frequency, and decrease transfer time.

This week, GRTC is hosting three public meetings to gather community feedback on the proposed route. These meetings are held in areas where this future bus route will run:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Food Pantry (909 Rennie Avenue)
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the GRTC Downtown Transfer Station (8th Street and Clay Street)
  • Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Hull Street Branch – Richmond Public Library (1400 Hull Street)
