19-year-old ‘Cookie Chris’ opens second store in Richmond, Virginia

WRIC 8 News reported that at 19 years old, Christopher Knight opened his second store in Richmond, Virginia last month while being a sophomore at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia with a 4.0 GPA. He opened his first location in Williamsburg, Virginia when he was 16 and in high school.

His parents run the stores while Chris is busy at school. Chris runs the stores through social media and comes up with new cookie flavors weekly.

Christopher said:

“Even when I was doing cookies back at 16, I never thought it would be this big, But my parents instilled in me always that, if you work hard at it, [if] you pray at it — it can happen.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, Christopher’s mom, Franchette, wanted him to do something productive. He learned baking skills from his grandmother when he was younger. So, he began baking cookies and selling them at school and on social media. After two years, he had saved enough money for half of his store in Williamsburg, and the other half came from his parents.
