According to the museum, Pluto and his brother Edgar were found as kittens behind the Poe Shrine on an early November morning in 2012.

“Since then, they have become a permanent part of the museum,” the museum said in its statement on Facebook. “If you’ve ever visited, it was likely Pluto that greeted you at the door, followed you in the garden, or showed you to the next exhibit.”

The museum described Pluto as a social butterfly that was always eager to meet new people and “share his affection for chin scratches in return.”
